copac road show.jpgThe constitution select committee, COPAC has launched road shows in an effort to increase awareness of the consultative process throughout the country.

The road shows, which have been launched in Harare, will be taken to all the ten provinces of the country.

In a ZBC News survey, people in Harare who participated in the road show expressed optimism with the process.

They however said that COPAC has not been forthcoming with information regarding the outreach process and there are fears that people in some remote areas may still be unaware of how the information gathering phase will be conducted.

Organiser of the road shows, Mr. George Chagonda said the campaigns are meant to augment other sources of information like radio, television and newspapers.

“We are using these road shows to reach more people, some of whom could not get information from other information sources such as radio and television,” he said.

Of late, COPAC has come under fire from members of the public who felt the whole process was not properly organised and many people were getting confused with the little information that was being disseminated to educate the populace about the programme.

The introduction of the road shows has been viewed as a positive development that is expected to fill the information gap in a combination of entertainment with education.
