Liberation war hero and legendary musician, Abel Sinwemetsi Sithole of the Cool Crooners who died last week has been laid to rest at the Bulawayo Heroes Acre today.
Cde Matshingelani Nyathi was also buried today at the same cemetery.
Minister of welfare for war veterans, collaborators, ex-detainees, and political restrictees, Cde Tshinga Dube took the opportunity to dismiss factionalism and call for unity of purpose within the party saying those who are fanning disunity are destroying the revolutionary party and must not be allowed to continue.
Cde Eunice-Sandi Moyo also emphasized the issue of unity and further went on to encourage liberation heroes to keep a record of their auto-biographies to avoid distortions of their contribution to the war of liberation.
Their sentiments were also echoed by chairman of the War Veterans Association in Bulawayo, Cde Cephas Ncube who said the splinter group of war veterans was a group of power hungry individuals betraying the gains of the liberation.
Bulawayo musicians also paid their tribute to the heroes by singing the legendary Cool Crooners ensemble tune titled ‘Bhulugwe Lami’.
