The alleged criminal conduct of the former Contextiles Housing Cooperative found guilty of fraud and slapped with a seven year jail term seven years ago is still affecting duped members to this day as endless litigation has seen stalling in finalising the case.

The development has led to squabbles between the current cooperative, Chitungwiza city fathers and some youths over allocation of stands.

Confusion and chaos haunts the Chitungwiza Contextiles Housing Cooperative’s 16 of its members most of whom joined the cooperative during its formative years in the early 80’s, who are yet to be allocated stands after a previous executive siphoned funds from the cooperative and was dragged to the courts were they were convicted but they have been appealing against the sentence and conviction since seven years ago.

The current executive is also not singing from the same hymn book with allegations for some members that the executive may have also sold some stands to non members.

Following an altercation with Zanu PF Youth League members who contend they were issued stands by the George Makunde led council, the secretary for the housing cooperative Tasara Zvandasara blames council for failing to honour its words while the chairman of the cooperative Robson Ngoshi accused the youths for forcibly taking over some stands allocated by the same council.

However, Zanu PF Youth League secretary for administration Tawanda Kadengu rubbished the sentiments of the chairman of cooperative saying Mr  Makunde had duly issued them the stands at the centre of the wrangle.

Efforts to get a comment from Mr Makunde were in vain as his mobile phone went unanswered.
