Minister of Defence Dr Sydney Sekeramayi says access to health care services is an indispensable part of an empowered society.
Walking long distances to seek medical care will soon come to an end for the Nenguo community in Marondera RDC as they have embarked on the construction of a clinic at Chakadini.
The Chakadini Old Students Association and the community have initiated the construction of the clinic.
Dr Sekeramayi who was the guest speaker at the ground breaking ceremony and fundraising event at Chakadini Clinic said the community initiative is a welcome development which needs support as the escalating demand for health services require supporting infrastructure.
Chairperson of the Chakadini Clinic steering committee Mr Handsen Manjengwa appealed to the corporate sector and individuals to assist with resources to construct the clinic.
Dr Sekeramayi pledged cement for the project while Marondera businessmen Mr Lucas Chimoka and Richard Mavhunga and politician Foster Gwanzura chipped in with resources for the construction of the clinic.
The clinic becomes the first health facility in Nenguo communal area and will also benefit villagers from Nyandoro and Chimbwanda areas.
