copac logo.jpgThe Constitutional Select Committee (COPAC) has announced that the actual drafting of a new constitution has begun with the final draft expected to be ready in 35 days.

COPAC says a technical team comprising 17 members has already started the drafting of the new constitution and will be working in close consultation with the select committee for the final document.

Speaking to ZBC News, COPAC co- chairperson, Cde Munyaradzi Paul Mangwana said the committee has committed itself to working through-out the festive holiday to ensure that the drafting process is completed within the anticipated time.

COPAC Co-chairperson, Mr. Douglas Mwonzora said the drafting will centre on issues which the three political parties have already agreed on while the committee continues to work on the outstanding issues.

The draft which will be in place after 35 days will be publicized before the Second All-Stakeholders Conference to be held next year to give Zimbabweans an opportunity to familiarise with its contents.

Then a referendum will follow. The three principal drafters are Justice Moses Chinhengo, Mrs. Priscilla Madzonga and Mr. Brian Crozier.
