water1.jpgResidents have been urged to conserve water given the low inflows that have been recorded in the city’s supply dams.

The call was made by Bulawayo City Council Director for Engineering Services Engineer Simela Dube.

Engineer Dube said it is crucial for residents to stay within their water consumption limits to avoid water rationing and ensure that the available water lasts until the next rain season.

He said the overall inflow into the dam stands at 54% of which 70% of the water is contained in Insiza Dam.

Engineer Dube highlighted that the city’s water consumption rate short to 157 mega-litres per day from 120 last month due to high temperatures being experienced in the region.

He said the other dams supplying Bulawayo mainly lower and upper Ncema, Inyankuni and Umzingwane are all below 20%.
