Tax compliance will take centre stage when industry, commerce and government converge in Victoria Falls for the Tax Matrix Conference on Tax.

The conference comes as stakeholders are exploring ways to increase tax revenues at a time when companies are facing several viability constrains.

Tax expert Marvellous Tapera said taxation is a contested area and this makes dialogue a requisite in forging common ways of meeting government’s revenue collection targets while maintaining a conducive business environment.

“As you rightly understand government requires revenue and at the same time industry needs to pay so we need to come to the table and explain the tax obligations that need to be met. Right now as we speak people don’t understand their roles in terms of tax administration,” said Tapera

Key speakers lined up to address contentious tax issues comprise ZIMRA Acting Commissioner General Happias Kuzvinzwa,  Permanent Secretary for the Ministry of Macro-Economic Planning and Invest Promotion Dr Desire Sibanda, SAZ Director General Dr Eve Gadzikwa, ICAZ president Gloria Zvavanhu and UZ Chairperson of Economics Department Professor Albert Makochekanwa, among other experts.
