A sports administrator says comprehensive strategic plans that are successfully implemented are key in transforming the fortunes of Zimbabwean sport.
Local sport fans have often had to face the disappointment of teams failing to make a mark on the international stage.
The absence of strategic plans and failure to implement existing plans has been a major concern, according to Robert Mutsauki, the facilitator of a Zimbabwe Strategic Planning Facilitators Workshop.
Participants have been drawn from local universities, national sport associations, the Ministry of Sport, Recreation, Arts and Culture as well as the Sports and Recreation Commission.
The train the trainers programme has a focus on the role of strategic planning, challenges of strategic planning, managing projects and team building among a series of topics that are part of the 7 day programme being held at the Zimbabwe Olympic Committee headquarters.
The capacity building workshop seeks to give knowledge to key personnel that can go out and train other administrators within national sport associations.
