Vice President Phelekezela Mphoko has called upon former ZAPU and ZIPRA combatants to urgently come up with a list of all their seized properties as a first step towards addressing the issue.

In an address to war veterans that had gathered at Castle Arms in Bulawayo, Cde Mphoko, who started by chronicling how properties had been bought by ZANU, ZAPU and ZIPRA as a way of empowering their members, said it was unacceptable to take people’s properties.

He also indicated that after consultations with President Robert Mugabe, it was agreed that a full list of the said properties be compiled so as to kick start the process of returning them to their owners.

Some of the properties include Magnet House, Umguza and Castle Arms, whose residents indicated that they lived in fear as they were constantly summoned by the Dumiso Dabengwa led ZAPU to vacate the premises.

Vice President Mphoko urged the residents not to lose sleep over the threats, adding that  ZAPU was not in Zanu PF by mistake but under the guidance of the late Father Zimbabwe, Dr Joshua Nkomo,  had consciously merged with their liberation war compatriots.

The war veterans that attended the meeting also took the opportunity to reiterate their support for President Mugabe, while denouncing those that have continued to show lack of respect to the head of state.
