Harvesting of maize under Command Farming is now in full swing in various parts of the country.

The bulk of the maize planted under Command Agriculture is now ready for harvesting.

Combine harvesters are out in full force in the provinces harvesting maize for delivery to the Grain Marketing Board.

The launch of Command Agriculture has brought back the good golden days as of good harvests as most the farmers who benefitted under the programme are expecting up to 10 tonnes per hectare.

It is high time government dispatches more combine harvesters to all provinces to ensure all the maize is harvested on time, especially for farms with irrigation so that they clear the maize and plant wheat .

More than two million tonnes of maize are projected under the Command Agriculture programme and government has already assured farmers it will pay the producer price of US$390 per tonne for the grain.
