The Command Agriculture Programme has been hailed for improving agricultural productivity in Goromonzi district, Mashonaland East Province.

It is that time of the year when farmers all over the country take turns to showcase their produce at dry shows with the best walking away with prizes for their efforts.

In Goromonzi, farmers converged at Acturus for the annual district agricultural show to exhibit their agricultural products.

Goromonzi District Agricultural Extension Officer, Mr Best Harunavamwe commended command agriculture for having improved productivity among farmers.

“Since the introduction of command agriculture, production among farmers has improved tremendously with hectarage having increased,” he said.

Dr Aaron Shamu, who represented the company that sponsored this year’s show, National Organic Products, said he was impressed by the farmers products exhibited at the show.

“I am impressed with the level and quality of products exhibited by farmers. It shows our farmers are serious,” he said.

Those who exhibited at the show included communal, A1 and small scale farmers.
