Friends, colleagues and relatives of the late diplomat, Cde John Chimbandi have described the late national hero as a humble, selfless and committed son of the soil who gave his all for his country.
Cde Chimbandi’s daughter, Annah gave a touching eulogy at the national shrine, depicting his father’s commitment to his family.
The late diplomat’s colleague in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mr Chrispen Mavodza described Cde Chimbandi as his brother and mentor.
The Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs and International Trade, Ambassador Joey Bimha said the late Chimbandi was among the founders of Zimbabwe’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, having worked as ZANU’s chief representative for Eastern Africa, covering Tanzania, Kenya, Madagascar, Uganda, Burundi and Rwanda in the then Organisation of Africa Unity (OAU).
The late Chimbandi’s uncle, Deputy Chief Secretary to the President and Cabinet, Cde Justin Mupamhanga said Cde Chimbandi leaves a legacy of hard work, humility, patriotism and courage.
