The group, which plays traditional jiti music gave a thrilling performance with a stunning display in choreography, vocals and instrumentation which won over the hearts of judges to beat nine other groups from the Southern Africa region.
Club Shanga’s group leader Farai Baramasimbe expressed happiness at his group’s performance and said he is now looking forward to the continuation of the good ambassadorial role they performed in Tanzania when they undertake a three months professional music tour in Europe next year.
“We hope to continue making Zimbabwe proud during our tour to Europe next year,†said Baramasimbe.
The competitions saw ten groups from five countries in the region including Malawi, Zambia and Mozambique contesting in the youth empowerment programme.
Zimbabwe was represented by two groups Club Shanga and The Way.
Despite not winning during the competitions, The Way gave a good performance.
