The Meteorological Service Department says it is going to start cloud seeding this week when the weather conditions permit them to do so.

Head Public Weather Service in the department, Mr Tichaona Zinyemba told the ZBC News that everything is now in place for the programme, considering weather conditions that allow them to do so.

Mr Zinyemba also said the process is very important in reducing hail that normally affects crops, while increasing the amount of rainfall in a certain area.

Cloud seeding is a process of modifying the chances of getting rainfall using hygroscopic chemical agents to augment precipitation.
