The curtain came down on the Mayor’s Invitational basketball tournament with Harare City Hornets and Weekend Squad from Namibia crowned champions in the men and ladies categories respectively.
Local basketball players and officials believe they learnt lessons from the just ended Mayor’s Invitational basketball tournament.
Harare City Hornets won the tournament as Lusaka City Council emerged runners up while Manicaland’s Mercenaries came third in the men’s category.
In the women’s category, Weekend Squad from Namibia were the overall winners while Brave Hearts from Malawi were second and Bulawayo’s Southern Marvericks settled for bronze.
The event provided an opportunity to share best practices in sport for both players’ and organisers.
A total of 34 teams participated in the three day Mayor’s Invitational basketball tournament held at the City Sports Centre in Harare.
