Harare Metropolitan Governor and Resident Minister, Cde. David Karamanzira, has dismissed the Harare City Council 2011 budget saying the local authority should hold a thorough consultative process to come up with a budget in line with people’s interests and welfare.
Cde. Karimanzira has fired warning shots at the proposed Harare City Council 2011 budget saying the local authority must carry out a thorough consultative process before passing the budget.
Cde. Karimanzira said there is need for the Council to propose a budget that takes into account the fact that the majority of ratepayers are already overburdened by other financial obligations.
Governor Karimanzira however pointed out that no formal complaint from the residents has yet been received by his office.
The proposed Harare City Council 2011 budget has been opposed from different quarters, with ratepayers expressing anger that they were not consulted in coming up with the expenditure and revenue projections.
Last week, thousand of Mbare ratepayers marched to Town Hall demanding that the Council should redraft the budget. Â
