The government has hailed the church for implementing projects which aid poverty reduction and infrastructure development in line with the ZIMASSET economic blueprint.

The church is playing a key developmental role through capacity building initiatives that help citizens to be self-reliant.

In a speech read on her behalf by Mr Ignatius Mungure, the Deputy Director in her ministry, at the United Methodist Church Glen Norah East launch of a fundraising initiative for construction of a community centre, the Minister of State for Harare Provincial Affairs, Cde Mirriam Chikukwa, commended the church for empowering women and youth.

The plight of underprivileged women and jobless youths in the community inspired construction of the centre.

At country level, the United Methodist Church has been instrumental in health and education sectors and has many clinics and schools at mission centres throughout Zimbabwe.
