The Methodist Church in Zimbabwe (MCZ) says the church plays a critical role in nation building by moulding leaders with Christian values and undertaking various developmental projects in local communities.
Speaking in Harare at the fifth anniversary of the formation of Warren Park circuit, MCZ Presiding Bishop, Reverend Amos Ndhlumbi said the church has a much bigger role to play in society than just preaching the word of God.
“The church grooms and nurtures God fearing leaders. It instills moral values and helps in fostering peace in society,†said Reverend Ndhumbi.
Bishop Simon Madhiba of Harare West District, who spoke at the same occasion, noted the key role of the church in the development of the nation through the setting up of schools, hospitals and vocational training centres.
“The church is committed to the development of the nation as we undertake various initiatives such as the training our members to engage in self sustenance projects. We also put various projects that benefit the disadvantaged members of the society,†said Bishop Madhiba.
The Methodist Church in Zimbabwe Warren Park District was established five years ago when it was separated from the Kuwadzana District due to the increase in the number of worshippers.Â
