The church will continue to pray for the country and its leaders so that Zimbabwe becomes a peaceful nation.

This comes as the country prepares for harmonised elections set for July or August this year.

In an interview with the ZBC News on the sidelines of the Methodist Church in Zimbabwe Mbare circuit annual Palm Sunday in Harare today, Reverend Petros Marangwanda said Palm Sunday is celebrated in remembering Jesus’ triumphal entry into Jerusalem while riding a donkey walking on palm leaves to represent peace and victory.

“This is a very important day for all Christians as we practically do what Jesus Christ did in preparation for his death to save us from our sins,” he said.

The church’s Evangelism Co-ordinator, Mr Japheth Mvuraihore said a huge number of people from Mbare joined hands with them in celebrating Palm Sunday.

“More are going to repent when they see us doing practical things on what Jesus did long back,” he said.

Congregants explained the good of being a follower of Jesus Christ.

Palm Sunday marks the beginning of what iS known in Christian circles as the Holly Week, leading to Easter.
