Easter Sunday is regarded by many Christians as a day of faith renewal and today Zimbabweans from all walks of life gathered in various churches to mark one of the most important days on the Christian calendar.
Since the beginning of the week, Christians from different denominations have been holding services to celebrate the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
The week’s celebrations culminate with Easter Sunday services which are held to mark the resurrection of Christ from death.Â
In Harare, various churches held Easter Sunday services, but the biggest congregation was witnessed at the United Family International Church (UFIC) Easter Sunday service held at the National Sports Stadium in Harare.
After the highly publicised ‘Judgement Night’ on Friday, thousands of Prophet Emmanuel Makandiwa’s followers thronged the giant stadium with some having come from across the country’s borders. Â
Pastor Edmore Kwaramba and Pastor Elias Hwenga said Jesus’ resurrection has assured mankind of eternal life and Easter brings with it a chance for faith renewal for those who need to mend their ways. Â
According to the scriptures, more than 2000 years ago Jesus Christ conquered death by rising from the dead after being crucified on the cross at Calvary.
It is this resurrection that has assured human kind of eternal life.
