Magaba has become an eye-sore as the city council has not been collecting garbage, thus creating a potential health bomb this rain season.

Residents say they are now living in fear of a cholera outbreak.

“Garbage has not been collected for some time and we really fear the revisit of the 2008 cholera epidemic,” said one resident.

Some, who are running small scale businesses revealed they are now used to the ugly situation despite losing on customers.

Meanwhile, Harare City Council spokesperson, Mr Leslie Gwindi, said he is not aware that garbage in Magaba area has not been collected of late.

While Zimbabweans had expected that the introduction of the multicurrency system regime in February last year was going to improve service delivery especially in councils, some areas such as Magaba have not seen any changes despite them paying rates to the council.
