Obriel Chirinda was the toast of the Chicken Inn football club’s monthly awards after he scooped the best player for the month and three man-of-the-match accolades since the start of the season.

The Gamecocks managed to secure sponsorships for the man-of-the-match as well as the player of the month awards only last month prompting it to hold an awards ceremony.

Former Bantu Rovers and Ubuntu Cape Town FC attacker, Chirinda stole the limelight on the evening as he was voted the best player for the month of August before he went on to scoop three man-of-the-match awards which was a joint top with former Highlanders midfielder, Simon Munawa.

Of the sponsorship worth $500 from Blackshark, Chirinda walked away with the greater amount of $300 while the remaining $200 was shared by his fellow strikers in the team.

The man-of-the-match sponsorship initially announced to be $50 by Zambuko Capital saw players who excelled in different matches since the start of the season each walking away $100 richer, with Innocent Mucheneka, Passmore Bernard, George Majika and Obidiah Tarumbwa each winning it twice.

The Gamecocks’ vice chairman, Juta Mpofu, paid tribute to the sponsors for honouring their promises.

The representatives of the two sponsors promised to continue their relationship with Chicken Inn, expressing satisfaction in the opportunities that lie ahead.

The 2015 PSL champions, Chicken Inn has come back strongly in the current championship quest as they are seated on third position with 47 points, 11 shy of the log leaders Ngezi Platinum.
