The small town of Chiredzi was awake this Sunday after Caps United descended on the lowveld town for a practise match with Division One side, Chiredzi Stars.

Football lovers in Chiredzi had a rare treat when Caps United squared off against their home side in a match that ended 2-1 in favour of the Harare giants.

The two-year old lowveld side put a spirited performance and club administrator Taurai Dzoro said such outings are important in building synergies.

Caps United Captain Hardlife Zvirekwi said such games are critical in grooming other players as well as sharing experiences for both teams.

Chiredzi Stars took the opportunity to donate goods worth more than $4 000 to victims of Cyclone Idai.

Speaking during the handover ceremony of the goods Chiredzi Town Council Chairman Mr Gibson Hwende and the District Administrator Mr Lovemore Chisema applauded the team for its noble gesture and appealed for more donations from the community.

Chiredzi Stars was formed in January 2018 and participated in Masvingo Division Two the same year before being promoted into the ZIFA Eastern Region Division One.
