preident and qishang.jpgThe visiting Chinese Vice Premier, Mr. Wang Qishang, paid a courtesy call at State House where he held a two and half hour discussion with the Head of State and Government and Commander-in-Chief of the Zimbabwe Defence Forces, President Robert Mugabe.

They discussed bilateral issues and the topical issue was the Libyan crisis where the west has started bombing Libya.

President Mugabe said China has been an all weather friend since the days of the liberation struggle and to date a number of economic and technical agreements have been signed to boost agricultural and industrial output.

He said Cde Mugabe has been a foot soldier who fought hard to liberate his people and to date he wants to see his people empowered and China stands ready to assist.

Earlier, the Chinese delegation met the Prime Minister, Mr. Morgan Tsvangirai at his Munhumutapa Offices.

Meanwhile, President Mugabe says the bombardment of Libya by western countries is all about Libyan resources, mostly oil, which they want for themselves.

Addressing journalists in Harare this Monday, Cde Mugabe said African and Arab member states that voted along western states made a terrible blunder and did not understand the hypocrisy of the west.

Cde Mugabe said the west have always envied African resources and they now want Colonel Gaddafi killed following the bombardment of his residence in Tripoli this Monday.

He also said Africans should have realised that by voting for a no fly zone on Libya they were putting the people of Libya in danger.

The President said China tried its level best by abstaining but they were outnumbered by those who wanted to effect regime change.
