The visiting Chinese business delegation says it is looking into investing in the textile industry in Zimbabwe.

This came out during a dinner hosted for them by the Minister of State for Harare Metropolitan Province, Cde Miriam Chikukwa in the capital this Wednesday.

The delegation from the Shaoxing Municipal People’s Congress in China, which is in the country to investigate investment opportunities in Harare, showed a keen interest in investing in the textile industry.

Head of the delegation, Deputy Director of Shaoxing Municipal People’s Congress, Wang Jigang said Zimbabwe has a favourable environment and thus have interest in investing in areas of textile, knitting and mechanical bearings.

Cde Chikukwa was optimistic that this visit will yield a beneficial and sustainable relationship between Shaoxing and Harare companies and that manufacturing plants will be established in Harare.

The Chinese Ambassador to Zimbabwe, Mr Huang Ping said they are working towards the enforcement of partnership between China and Zimbabwe.

The delegation had a chance to interact with players in the business sector from all the three councils under Harare Metropolitan Province and is expected to tour Sunway City this Thursday, which is one of the special economic zones in the province.
