This year’s edition of the Chinese Ambassador‘s Cup China – Zimbabwe table tennis friendly match got off to an exciting start with preliminary matches being played at the Belvedere Technical Teachers College in Harare.

The China-Zimbabwe table tennis friendly match is hosted by the Chinese Embassy in Zimbabwe and co-organised by the Zimbabwe Chinese Table Tennis Association and Zimbabwe Table Tennis Union, sponsored by local companies and Chinese communities in Zimbabwe.

Wang Iping, chairman of Zimbabwe Chinese Table Tennis Association said the tournament is growing and getting better with each year.

The match includes men’s and women’s team, women’s as well as men’s and women’s singles where defending champion Yang Zhan is through to the finals.

Several top table tennis players including Brian Chamboko were missing after missing out on the elimination tournament held at Prince Edward prior to the preliminaries on Friday (today).

The finals on Saturday (tomorrow) will showcase the best table tennis players from both countries.

The tournament is meant to strengthen the bi-lateral friendship and bilateral sporting exchanges and co-operation as well as relations between China and Zimbabwe.
