The People’s Republic of China has assured Zimbabwe that the Asian nation will stand by the country through its quest for self dignity and enhancing sovereignty.
This was said by a visiting Chinese Communist Party (CPC) Central Committee Member, Mr Liu Yunshan, who is also the country’s Information Minister when he paid a courtesy call on Acting President, Cde John Landa Nkomo.
“The CPC, the Chinese government and Chinese people have always been supporting the rightful position of the Zimbabwean people and government in defending your sovereignty and the national dignity,” said Mr. Liu.
In a strong solidarity message, Mr Liu Yunshan emphasised that Zimbabwe-China relations are a direct result of bilateral relations between the Communist Party of China and Zanu PF.
“The CPC delegation is visiting Zimbabwe at the invitation of Zanu PF, to further deepen the friendship, mutual understanding and the diplomatic cooperation between the two parties,†Mr. Liu added.
Acting President, John Landa Nkomo expressed gratitude for the continued support from China, urging the two countries to build and continue promoting mutual relations that have seen the Asian giant stand by Zimbabwe at the highest level of diplomacy in the United Nations.
“We will always remember how you stood by us and how you continue to support us,†said Cde Nkomo.
Zimbabwe-China relations have continued to grow with both nations enjoying mutual beneficial relations dating back to the days of the liberation struggle.
