Various churches in Chimanimani this Sunday (today) held an inter-denominational memorial service for hundreds who perished during the Cyclone Idai disaster.

The young, old and even the uniformed forces joined in the singing and dancing that characterised the church ceremony testifying the power of a community wanting to heal as it consoled each other sharing experiences and above all love.

A message of hope and support towards each other was reflected when all the speakers took to the podium.

Chimanimani east legislator Honourable Joshua Sacco and several men of cloth who present at the service said the idea behind was to provide spiritual support having realised that they need to provide psycho-social support to the survivors.

“The idea is to bring people together in prayer and dance as a way of providing spiritual support to our people,” he said.

The memorial service was held at Ndima Primary School and was attended by several government officials and community members from around Chimanimani.
