Child marriages, early pregnancies and child abuse issues dominated discussions during the official opening of the Mashonaland East Provincial Child Parliament at Mrewa Centre.

Child President Sharon Kapfudza who officially opened the provincial child parliament session expressed concern over the increasing cases of child marriages and early pregnancies.

Mashonaland East Minister of State for Provincial Affairs, Retired Brigadier General Ambrose Mutinhiri was among high ranking officials who called for stiffer penalties to perpetrators of child abuse and child marriages.

The child parliament session also afforded members of the public who have never been to parliament the opportunity to experience what transpires in the August House.
