Chikurubi Female Prison is home to inmates including those with minor children aged 2 and below.
But for one Tendai Muzenda her case is different.
She is in prison together with her 2 children who are above the stipulated age limit due to life circumstances.
33 year old Tendai who was sentenced to 25 days in prison regrets the day she lost her temper after she was involved in an altercation with her co-tenant in Chitungwiza in last month.
Narrating her ordeal, Tendai who is in prison together with her two sons, 6 year old and another 9 year old who is disabled said she does not have any idea where she is going to put up upon her release on the 24th of this month since no relative is ready to welcome her back.
Tendai who is a single mother is therefore appealing for assistance for the upkeep of her children, a wheelchair for the disabled child as well as a place to stay.
Ex-inmates continue to suffer discrimination within communities, however there is need for society to change their attitude towards them and embrace those who were incarcerated for various crimes.
