The late legendary culture and theater guru, Stephen Chifunyise got a befitting send-off as family members, friends, colleagues from the arts industry, international representatives and government officials graced his final memorial service held at the family home in Vainona in Harare.

People who spoke at the late playwright’s wake including the Minister of State for Harare Metropolitan Province, Honourable Oliver Chidau and the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Youth, Sport, Arts and Recreation Dr Thokozile Chitepo described the late Chifunyise as one of the best culture and theatre experts ever produced in the country.

“I don’t think there is anyone as great and informed as was Chifunyise and he has left a mark in the world,” said  Minister Chidau.

The legendary Chifunyise who was accorded a state assisted funeral in recognition of his contribution towards the development of culture and theatre in the country will be remembered for writing plays including one of the first series to be aired on ZBC titled “Solo naMutsai” and his involvement in crafting culture frameworks around the world among other projects.
