A delegation of five chiefs have met with Vice President Emmerson Mnangagwa at the Ministry of Justice offices to appeal for radio and television licences to be given to some people from various provinces under the government digitalisation programme.
The chiefs delegation comprised Chief Gwebu of Buhera in Manicaland, Chief Khayisa Ndiweni of Ntabazinduna, Chief Mabhikwa of Lupane in Matabeleland North, Chief Khumalo and Chief Dhlodhlo from Matabeleland South province.
They said it is crucial for people from their areas to be awarded the television and radio licenses to allow them to uphold and propagate their culture for posterity.
The delegation was accompanied by National Assembly member, Ms Priscillah Misihairambwi Mushonga.
The government through the Ministry of Information, Media and Broadcasting Services embarked on a digitalisation exercise to enable the people of Zimbabwe including those in the remote parts of the country to receive broadcasting signals.
