Chiefs have commended the able leadership of President Robert Mugabe who has navigated the stormy political and economic waters of this country since independence.
In an interview with the ZBC News on the sidelines of President Mugabe’s 93rd birthday bash in the heart of the sacred hills of Matopos which are known as Chilala Badzimu, chiefs said the nation is happy that the President has done a lot for the people of this country.
They spoke of the education policy that has benefited many youths as well as adults through the informal education system.
The chiefs were also grateful for the land reform programme, the very foundation of the war of liberation as well as other empowerment programmes.
Also to congratulate the President was an elder nationalist, Cde Naison Khutshwekhaya Ndlovu who said 93 years is a blessing from God.
A number of institutions and individuals also showered the President with gifts where a renowned Brahman breeder in Matopo, Mr Rueben Pilossof gave Cde Mugabe two bulls.
Meanwhile, the Zanu PF political leadership in Matabeleland South Province has pledged its commitment towards ensuring that the unity that exists in the province
continues to prevail so that the ruling party retains all the seats that it won in
the last election.
“Matabeleland South is fully behind President Mugabe and is grateful for the interventions made by the government to cushion its citizens during times of drought,” Zanu PF Provincial Chairman, Cde rabelani Choene said.
Acting Zanu PF Youth Provincial Chairperson, Cde Lizwe Moyo thanked Cde Mugabe for spearheading various economic empowerment programmes and policies that have uplifted the lives of youths in the province.
While the province has registered a number of successes in achieving its
developmental agenda, the torrential rains that have been experienced in
the region, have destroyed major social and economic infrastructure
such as roads and bridges.
