The Golden Jubilee celebrations will be held on 14 October this year, focusing on how the institution should play a leading role in farming activities.

The deputy chief executive officer of Farmers World Holdings, Mr. Thomas Nherera said the celebrations to mark the college’s 50 years of existence are important as Chibero was the first agricultural training institution in the country and has trained more than 2 000 students since its inception in 1961.

“The celebrations are important in terms of ensuring continued excellent services,” said Mr. Nherera.

Mr. Nherera said Chibero Agricultural College had also played an important role in facilitating the success of the land reform programme.

“The college has been crucial in ensuring that Zimbabwe becomes a success on the land reform policy,” added Mr. Nherera.

Various stakeholders from the country’s institutions of higher learning, farming sector, government officials and the private industry are expected to attend the Golden Jubilee celebrations at the college.
