Zimbabwe beat Sri Lanka by 3 wickets in the 5th One Day International (ODI) match played today at the Mahinda Rajapaksa International Cricket Stadium in Sri Lanka.

History was made as Zimbabwe survived a nervous chase to beat Sri Lanka by 3 wickets and win the five match ODI series 3-2.

The five ODI series against Sri Lanka was a series of firsts as Zimbabwe became the first team to successfully chase 300 in Sri Lanka.

It was also Zimbabwe’s first win against Sri Lanka in any format and Zimbabwe’s first and historic series win.

Opening batsman, Hamilton Masakadza was named ‘Man of the Series,’ while the ‘Man of the Match Award, went to teammate Sikandar Raza Butt.

Sri Lanka posted 203 for the loss of 8 wickets in their allotted 50 overs following a run rate 4.06 an over, while Zimbabwe reached 204 for the loss of 7 wickets in 38.1 overs with a superior run rate of 5.34 an over
