The Zimbabwe national cricket team, the Chevrons concluded their European tour with a victory over Ireland that saved them the embarrassment of losing in both the t-20 and ODI formats.

Craig Ervine and Sean Williams scored crucial half centuries which in the end proved vital for the Chevrons who in the end avoided a series defeat having lost the first t-20.

Ireland took to the crease first and scored 171 runs for the loss 9 wickets.

In response, Zimbabwe looked at sixes and sevens up until Ervine and Williams held the tourist’s innings together.

The duo scored half centuries which ensured they secured an eight-wicket win over Ireland at Bready Cricket Club.

It has been gloomy for Zimbabwean cricket in recent weeks after the Chevrons struggled on their tour of the Netherlands where they succumbed to a 2-0 ODI series loss before drawing 1-1 in the t-20 format.

Against Ireland, the Chevrons lost in the ODI format before salvaging a draw in the t-20 format.

The gentleman’s game has not been short of controversy following the suspension of the Zimbabwe Cricket Board by the Sports and Recreation Commission which has since installed an interim leadership led by Dave Elman Brown.
