british pound symbol.jpgThe Prime Minister’s Office which allegedly received 3 million pounds from Britain to fund Zimbabwe’s media to denigrate the person of Cde Robert Mugabe, has opened offshore accounts for two senior journalists from the private media with reports indicating that other journalists are currently getting their dues in cash.

Investigations by ZBC News into the MDC-T’s 3 million pound project being managed by Minister of State in the Prime Minister’s Office Mr. Jameson Timba to tarnish the image of President Mugabe and Zanu PF show that some senior journalists from the private media have been given VISA cards to access their hefty earnings anywhere in the world, especially in South Africa and Zambia.

ZBC News has it on good authority that the two senior journalists have also recruited other colleagues to join the cheque book journalism bandwagon.

It is understood the two journalists are now living lavish lives.

Though the MDC-T has always claimed to be champions of media freedom, the latest stunt by the Prime Minister Office has exposed the party’s hypocrisy.

Speaking at a pass out parade at Morris Depot, ZRP Commissioner General Augustine Chihuri warned the private media not to be used by political parties in disseminating hate language.

While media freedom should be upheld, journalists’ irresponsibility’s can sometimes be fatal as evidenced by the Rwanda genocide of 1994 which was perpetuated by a radio station.
