Since independence, huge strides have been made in the construction of educational facilities with Zimbabwe now rated highly in terms of literacy on the continent and globally.

Despite the gains made in the education sector, there are areas where education provision has been stalled as a result of infrastructure constraints.

One such centre is Hangaiwa Primary School in Chendambuya.

The school is currently seized with the need for an early childhood development (ECD) block that will see learners that were having lessons under trees being accommodated.

Residents of the area say they are committed to ensuring that they spearhead the development agenda by assisting towards such projects.

The school is also yet to be supplied with electricity with efforts by legislator, Cde Francis Muchenje expected to open up opportunities for young learners.
