The Zimbabwe sevens rugby team succumbed to a 10-7 loss at the hands of Uganda in the Africa Cup final but sealed a maiden World Cup qualification.

The Cheetahs got off to a good start but let slip of a 7-nil lead to lose to the hosts 10-7 in the final.

Despite the loss to Uganda, Zimbabwe is on cloud nine after booking World Cup qualification.

According to the current qualifying format the two teams that make it to the final gain automatic qualification, meaning that the Cheetahs and the Cranes will both grace the 2018 Sevens World Cup in the United States.

The Cheetahs beat Tunisia 17-12 in the quarter-finals before dismissing Madagascar 21-12 in the semi-finals.
