Rehabilitation of Checheche-Mabeye road linking the growth point to the Mozambican border is now underway, restoring increased activity on the road that had gone for several years without being used by motorists because of its poor state.

It took combined efforts from Chipinge South legislator, Cde Enoch Porusingazi and the council to pull resources together to rehabilitate the pothole ridden road.

Villagers who witnessed their road being rehabilitated showered praises to the local authority and Cde Porusingazi for the partnership to rehabilitate roads in the constituency.

Matikwa A village head, Clemance Matikwa said the rehabilitation of the 40km road to Chinyamukwakwa will promote economic activities in the area by increasing free movement of people and agriculture produce while Chipinge South ward 26 councillor and Council Vice Chairperson, Misheck Busa Ngabanye said the rehabilitation of the road was long overdue.

Cde Porusingazi said the rehabilitation of Checheche-Mabeye road is part of the grand project to repair damaged roads in the constituency.

Road networks in a number of districts in the country have been affected by cyclones, with the latest being Dineo, a situation requiring more resources to rehabilitate the damaged infrastructure.
