vp nkomo 04.02.11.jpgVice President John Landa Nkomo says there is a need to channel more resources to the police as this will help create a crime free environment, necessary for total development.

In a speech read on his behalf by the Governor and Resident Minister for Matabeleland North Province, Cde Thokozile Mathuthu during the handover of a Nissan pick up to Tsholotsho Police Station and the graduation of 42 Neighbourhood Watch Committee members, Cde Nkomo said crimes such as rape, murder and robbery need a speedy reaction which can only occur when there are adequate resources.

He condemned the disrespect that members of the public have developed towards police officers as shown by the recent case that occurred in Bulawayo which led to the death of a police officer.

ZRP Officer-In-Charge of Finance and Administration in Matebeleland North, Assistant Commissioner Sithulisiwe Moukela commended traditional leaders for co-operating with the police saying this has enabled the ZRP to be successful in curbing cases of crime in the district.

Matabeleland South Governor and Resident Minister, Cde Angeline Masuku was one of the guests together with other senior government officials from the district.
