cephas mashakada.pngVeteran Sungura musician, Cephas Mashakada has died.

He was 51.

Mashakada, who was admitted at the Chitungwiza General Hospital Intensive Care Unit passed away at 2PM this Tuesday.

The talented musician, who was the leader of the Sounds of  the Muddy Face Band, has been battling with diabetes for a long time and was of late diagnosed with kidney failure.

Chitungwiza General Hospital Chief Executive Officer, Doctor Obadiah Moyo confirmed Mashakada’s death in a telephone interview with ZBC News.

Doctor Moyo paid tribute to staff at his hospital, the Minister of Media, Information and Publicity, Cde Webster Shamu, who is also the patron of the  Zimbabwe Union of Musicians, and local musicians for giving moral support during Mashakada’s illness.

He leaves behind his wife, Eunice, three daughters and seven grand children.

Mourners are gathered at house number 2502 Unit B, Utsanana Road in Chitungwiza.

Burial arrangements will be announced in due course.
