larfarge cement.jpgCement shortages in the country are persisting causing price increases of between US$13 and US$15 per bag.

Several building material suppliers in Harare say they are struggling to meet demand although deliveries have slightly improved.

Suppliers said there are some dealers who are hampering a return to the recommended price of US$11,50 and US$12,50 per bag.

Efforts to get a comment from Larfage Cement Zimbabwe were fruitless but recent media reports reveal that the firm is now running at full capacity producing about 28 000 bags per day.

The rise in cement prices comes at a time when there is a lot of construction activity in the country, thereby pushing up building costs.
