The late Zanu PF provincial secretary for information and publicity, Cde Gladys Chitsungo Simango, who died of a heart complication in Harare has been laid to rest at Gweru Provincial Heroes Acre.
Relatives and friends described the late as a dedicated and patriotic cadre.
Addressing the gathering, Midlands Provincial Affairs Minister Cde Owen Ncube, said the death of Cde Simango has robbed not only her family but the province of a committed, dedicated and patriotic cadre.
He said Cde Simango has left the party with a huge task of mobilising and uniting the people to ensure a resounding victory in the coming harmonised elections slated for July 30.
Relatives and friends said the late Cde Simango was a unifier, a pillar of strength and was always ready to go out of her way to assist others.
Cde Simango was born in 1965 and her political career started with her appointment as Youth League Secretary for Security in New Canaan Highfield in 1984.
When she moved to Gokwe, she was appointed Secretary for Information and Publicity for the Zanu PF Women’s League Cheziya district.
Her dedication to duty saw the late being co-opted into the provincial party structure and was later appointed to the post of Secretary for Information and Publicity in the Women’s League, a position she held until her death.
