A top officer in the President’s Department, Cde Zenzo Ntuliki who died on Friday last week has been declared a national hero.

Cde Ntuliki (57) was an Assistant Director in the President’s Department and died after a fairly long illness at Materdei Hospital in Bulawayo..

He will be buried at the National Heroes Acre on Saturday.

The Minister of State Security in the Office of the President, Cde Kembo Mohadi delivered the hero conferment message to the Ntuliki family in Bulawayo on Tuesday evening on behalf of the government and the ruling Zanu PF party.

Cde Mohadi said only five of all the Politburo members had indicated that they didn’t know Cde Ntuliki.

He said the government and the revolutionary party accorded Cde Ntuliki hero status after considering his dedication to defend the nation before and after the liberation struggle.

Cde Ntuliki joined the liberation struggle in 1974 and after independence was attested in the President Department as an officer and rose through the ranks to become an Assistant Director, a position he held until the time of his death.

As Assistant Director in the President’s Department, he was in charge of the Southern Region, overseeing five provinces namely: Bulawayo, Midlands, Masvingo, Matabeleland North and South provinces.

On Thursday, his body will lie in state at his Burnside house in Bulawayo before it is flown to Harare on Friday to lie in state at One Commando in preparation of Saturday’s burial.

He is survived by 10 children.
