A heroes’ acre is for patriotic and genuine cadres who sacrificed for the country to create change necessary for development says the Midlands Minister of State Cde Owen Ncube.
Addressing mourners at the burial of the late Cde Sarah Mutusva, Minister Ncube said the provincial shrine is not for sell-outs but a sacred site were only revolutionaries who have contributed immensely towards the freedom and liberation of this country are interred.
Cde Mutusva who died after a short illness in Kwekwe joined ZAPU in 1962 and became the Kwekwe district chairperson.
In 1964 she was arrested and detained at Gweru Prison for conducting ZAPU meetings and later released in 1965.
From 1967 to 1987 Cde Mutusva worked as the provincial executive member of ZAPU.
At the time of her death she was the provincial deputy secretary for women’s affairs in the Zimbabwe Ex-political Prisoners Detainees and Restrictees Association (ZEPPDRA) for the Midlands Province and a member of the Zanu PF Chinyenyetu district.
