welshman mabhena 06-10-10.jpgFormer Zanu-PF Politburo Member and Matabeleland North Governor, Welshman Mabhena, has been declared a national hero.

 

This was announced by the Zanu-PF National Secretary for Information and Publicity, Cde Rugare Gumbo in Harare on Wednesday evening.

Cde Mabhena died on Tuesday morning at his Bulawayo home after a long struggle with diabetes and blood pressure. He was 86 years.

Family spokesperson, Norman Mabhena, confirmed Cde Mabhena’s death.

Zanu-PF Politburo Member, Dr Sikhanyiso Ndlovu, described the late Cde Mabhena as a principled man who was concerned with the development of Matebeleland region.

Cde Mabhena is survived by his wife Rebecca, 3 children, 12 grandchildren and 2 great-grand children.

Mourners are gathered at number 12 Amatja Road, Four Winds, Bulawayo.

Funeral arrangements will be announced in due course.
