The late liberation war hero, Cde Nickson Chirinda, who died in a car accident last week, will be buried at the Glen Forest cemetery in Harare on Saturday.

The Chirinda family spokesperson, Mr Stanley Bonyongwa told mourners that relatives decided that the late liberation war hero be buried at Glen Forest as per his wish.

Burial has therefore been set for Saturday, by which time the family hopes the late Cde Chirinda’s last born son, Garikai would have arrived in the country.

The Minister of State for Mashonaland West, Cde Webster Shamu called for the closure of a truck inn located within the Total Service Station premises where the accident occurred , saying its continued existence poses a danger not only to other road users but to the fuel station and even the nearby Chinhoyi High School in the event of a fire.

The late Cde Chirinda joined the liberation struggle in 1975 and received part of his training in Yugoslavia before joining the President’s Office and rose through the ranks to become Deputy Director Responsible for Special Projects and Non-Traditional Threats.

He is survived by 4 children.
