The Mashonaland East War Veterans Association has described the late Chimurenga musician, Cde Dick Chingaira as a person whose music played a big role in the liberation of this country.

Chairperson of the Mashonaland East War Veterans Association, Cde Daniel Sigauke said Cde Chinx’ music played a pivotal role during the liberation struggle as it calmed some of the traumatic situations experienced during the war.

Cde Sigauke said in as much as they had expected Cde Chinx to be accorded national hero status, they respect the decision reached by the party leadership to accord him liberation war hero status.

Cde Chinx was part of the Mashonaland East family where his farm belongs in Wedza district.

Cde Chinx died last Friday after a long battle with cancer and will be buried at Glen Forest cemetery in Harare tomorrow.
