The late war veteran Cde Daniel Chikazaza who died on the 21st of this month and was declared a liberation war hero has been buried at the Harare Provincial Heroes Acre.
Born on the 5th of May 1962 in Mutoko, Cde Chikazaza whose Chimurenga name was Cde Trust Chimurenga joined the liberation struggle in 1976 and received training at Tembwe training base.
He was deployed to Dendera Assembly Point in Mudzi in 1979.
He joined the Zimbabwe Republic Police in 1985 and rose through the ranks to the position of sergeant.
During his last deployment, he was working in the Police Protection Unit under the President’s escort until his retirement in 2017.
Cde Chikazaza’s wife and son described him as a dedicated family man who believed in unity.
Harare province war veterans’ representative Cde John Guta said Cde Chikazaza showed great commitment towards attainting the country’s liberation.
He is survived by his wife Thandiwe, five children and 3 grandchildren.
